When Loftus Road is full, the atmosphere is electric with excitement. QPR fans are intensely loyal and they express that dedication with enthusiastic vocal encouragement of their team.

The Rs have a long and proud history. Formed in 1882 as St Jude’s FC by a group of former pupils of Droop Street School, they merged with Christchurch Rangers to form QPR in 1886. The new name came from the fact that most of the players lived in the nearby district of Queen’s Park. QPR turned professional in 1899 and moved in 1917 to Loftus Road, which has been their home for most of the years since. The stadium, built in 1904 but extensively modernised in recent years, is a compact venue with a capacity of only 18,439 that provides an intimate setting that puts attendees extremely close to the pitch.

When Loftus Road is full, the atmosphere is electric with excitement. QPR fans are intensely loyal and they express that dedication with enthusiastic vocal encouragement of their team.

QPR won the League Cup, the third most important domestic trophy in English football, in 1967 and came agonisingly close to being league champions nine years later, when they finished second to Liverpool. That stands as the highest finish in Rangers history

They were founder members in 1992 of the Premier League, the most popular league in the world.

Although they have bounced between the top flight and the league below in the years since and are currently in the championship, the facilities at Loftus Road are superb, matching the top-flight ambitions of the club.

There are exciting plans for the future, with proposals to move to a purpose-built 30,000-seat arena a mile away, on the site of the Linford Christie Stadium next to the wide expanse of Wormwood Scrubs.
