Hy’s passion for football – and more specifically for in-action photos – started when she was just eight years old during a trip to Crystal Palace Football Club as a treat for her birthday at a time when women were still not allowed onto the pitch to take pictures. After a two-year struggle she was accepted by the NUJ and soon became a familiar sight on the touch lines at First Division football matches all over London. Shortly after that her photos were regularly seen in books, in magazines, and on the sports pages.
